2017_Visiting Report-Sri Lanka

When visited by the team in April this year, Hon.Ajith P. Perera, Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, said that the county offers good opportunities for the development of power and green energy technology. At present, the country’s sources of renewable energy are biomass energy, hydropower, solar power and wind power. Solar power generation is planned to reach 30MW in 2017, 60MW in 2018 and 100MW in 2019. Three 100MW solar energy parks and a 200MV rooftop solar power installation are planned by 2020.

In recent years, Sri Lanka has actively promoted national sustainable environmental development, the issues involved including policy formulation, waste management, green energy and promotion of green productivity etc. Important national programs such as the National Action Plan for Haritha(Green) Lanka program, Blue Green Beautiful Lanka Villages and Battle for Solar Energy can be expected to increase domestic investment and also offer a market for Taiwan’s industry.
