Solar Microgrid System Planning in Indonesia

The APO Green Technical Service Team led the staff of Tatung University and Tatung Company to visit Indonesia on November 25-29 and had a meeting with the local government of Sorong Regency of West Papua Province, together with the officers of Indonesian Ministry of Labor and Ministry of Rural Development, for discussing the rural area microgrid pilot project. Tatung Company plans to establish a microgrid system to supply electricity to local village offices and medical centers.

This trip also prompted the Indonesian Ministry of Labor to purchase a set of solar system teaching aid from Tatung Company and provide the solar system installation course at the Sorong Vocational Training Center. The Ministry of Labor stated that it would evaluate the solar system installation course and incorporate the course into the training program of 305 vocational training centers across the country.
