The Green Technical Service Team met with environmental regulatory agencies in Vietnam and planned a Taiwan-Vietnam green industry panel discussion.

The Green Technical Service Team visited Vietnam from September 3rd to 7th. Accompanied by the officers in the Economic Division and Technology Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, the service team visited the official bodies including the Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment Agency (ISEA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Department of International Cooperation and the Environmental Administration Agency under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (a non-profit organization) under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam. The service team also visited Dihn Vu Industrial Zone in Haiphong and engaged in a conversation with Vietnamese official bodies on environmental technology and applications. The Green Technical Service Team proposed that it would form a delegation consisted of Taiwanese vendors to visit Hanoi in November to hold a joint green industry panel discussion, during which ideas relating to policies, industries and technologies will be exchanged.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment signed a memorandum of understanding with Taiwan EPA and other official bodies to collaborate on environmental management, waste treatment, water resource management, marine ecosystem protection and alternative energy. The Environmental Science Institute (ESI) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam will host a panel discussion with the Green Service Team under the MOU framework. Officials and experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as vendors in the related industries are invited to participate in the panel discussion.

The panel discussion will focus on the government policies, industry practice and recycling standards relating to industrial dust, further enhanced with a visit to coal-fired power stations to collect first-hand site data. As the scope of collaboration is now narrowed down to specific issues, it is hoped that Taiwanese and Vietnamese vendors will engage in substantial technology exchange, partnership and commercial cooperation on more defined matters.
